Our Story

For the 27 years I’ve been alive, my 94 year old Grandad has regaled me with stories from his life.

He remembered stories from the war, he reminiscing about afternoon’s spent at Fulham FC as a youngster, and spoke fondly about his time window cleaning for the stars in St John’s Wood.

Sadly, with time, age and the onset of dementia, I saw my Grandad slowly decline in physical & mental health.

As the years have progressed, these stories have slowly been drained of their colour.

At Recollections, we want to capture and preserve these stories & voices while we can.

In years to come, my grandchild might ask how their grandparents met. Through Recollections, they themselves, can hear the story as told by their grandparents in their own voices.

People keep old diaries, pictures and letters, but they can only say so much. How about preserving actual voices?

My name is Nick Harris. I’m an award-winning radio producer, audio specialist, documentary maker expert interview & researcher, passionate historian, proud son & grandson.

In April 2022, my grandad passed away and I’m relieved that I had the foresight to record his story.

Memories are often lost when a person passes, but this new way of immortalising loved ones is invaluable.

That’s our story, what about yours?
